Gabby Barrett is giving fans a taste of what’s to come on her long-awaited sophomore album with a teaser of a brand-new song that was co-written by Luke Combs.
The platinum-selling star took to Instagram to share an a capella rendition of a brand new track. Her powerhouse vocals draw listeners in from the moment the chill-inducing clip begins.
Lyrics of the song include, “He said, dance like no one’s watching / whatever you do / and if life gives you love fall in / but always be you / ‘cause girl it’s a big world and it’s so easy to get lost in / so dance like no one’s watching…”

“It Really Strikes A Chord With Me”
Barrett did not disclose any details about the song and simply captioned her post with a white heart emoji and #album2.
She previously revealed that she recorded a song co-written by Combs during an interview with Country Countdown USA.
“I’m a big fan of his. He pitched me a song not too long ago,” Barrett said. “As soon as I heard it, I was like it really strikes a chord with me.”
The Pennsylvania native kept other details about the song, including the title and additional co-writers under wraps, but revealed that the track will appear on her yet-to-be-announced new album.
New Album On The Way
“I’m definitely gonna put it on my next album coming out later this year,” she added. “He was very adamant about the song and me recording it. I think it’s an awesome song, and it’s coming out this year.”
Combs has yet to speak about the song, however his wife, Nicole, was quick to react to Barrett’s teaser.
She commented “Unreal 😩😍,” she also shared the clip in her Instagram stories writing, “This song, these vocals, going to be unreal.”
Songwriter James McNair also commented on Barrett’s post, tagging Combs and fellow songwriter Emily Weisband. “Wow wow wow… CANT WAIT,” he wrote. Barrett responded with, “YES 😁.”
Barrett’s next album will follow her wildly successful debut album, Goldmine. Released in 2020, the project spawned back-to-back No.1s “I Hope” and “The Good Ones.” The deluxe edition of the project followed in 2021 and included the platinum-selling “Pick Me Up.”
Fans Are Excited
Fans flocked to the comments section to share their excitement over Barrett’s next musical era.
“AMAZING OMG OMG. Can’t freaking wait,” wrote one Instagram user, while another shared, “Soooo sooo Good!!! Makes me so excited for album #2❤️🙌”
Gabby Barrett has been hard at work on her second album and has documented some of her time in the studio on Instagram. Recently she shared a clip of her walking into lay-down vocals
“3 songs down today for album number 2,” she wrote. “Should I drop another sneak peek?”
A Possible Collaboration
As fans anticipate the arrival of her next project, they can likely expect a collaboration with her husband, fellow American Idol alum, Cade Foehner. The country hitmaker said “there’s a good chance” that the album will feature a duet.
“There have been a lot of requests for that. Maybe on album two this year. You never know. I’ll let you know,” she told Country Countdown USA host Lon Helton.
In addition to working on her new album, Barrett has been busy raising her two children alongside Foehner. The pair welcomed their second child, Augustine Boone Foehner, on November 2, 2022. He joins big sister, Baylah May, who turned 2 in January.
Barrett will return to the road in just a few short weeks. She’s scheduled to appear at several festivals throughout the spring and summer, including Stagecoach and Gulf Coast Jam. She’ll also join Kane Brown for several shows on the U.S. leg of his Drunk or Dreaming Tour.
