After 10 years together, Gone West’s Colbie Caillat and Justin Young have ended their relationship.
The couple, who began dating in 2009 and got engaged in 2015, shared the news on their respective Instagram accounts on Thursday (April 2).
“This is difficult for us to share, but we want to be honest with you all. After 10 wonderful years, Justin and I have ended our relationship. We started out as best friends and we will continue to be best friends. And we will continue to work and make music together, as we always have,” Caillat wrote.
“It will be hard, but often times the hard choice is the right choice and the path that will allow each of us to move forward and to grow,” she continued. “We continue to be overwhelmed with gratitude for our love and time together.”
Young shared the same statement, however, he replaced his name with Colbie’s name in his post.
According to their posts, Caillat and Young will continue to make music together. They are members of country music group Gone West alongside Jason Reeves and Nelly Joy. The group recently announced the release of their debut album, Canyons. Out June 12, the project features 13 tracks, all co-written by members of Gone West.
The group previously sat down with Country Now and recalled the moment they started singing together, admitting it was as if fate brought them together.
“It felt magical, and honestly, like we’d been singing together for years,” the group explained. “Each voice is so uniquely different when it’s by itself that you wouldn’t necessarily expect them to blend. But it’s quite the opposite. There’s times when we are singing that it blends to the point of sounding like one.”
