Blake Shelton made an appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! alongside his wife, superstar, Gwen Stefani, on Valentine’s Day. During the show, Stefani showcased her Valentine’s Day gift from Shelton – a jaw-dropping emerald green ring with diamonds.
An Early Valentine’s Day Gift
Before their performance of their just-released collaboration, “Purple Irises,” Stefani sat down with Kimmel to chat about their Valentine’s Day plans, her upcoming reunion with No Doubt, and more. During their chat, she revealed, “I got my Valentine’s present early this year.”
The 54-year-old then held up her right hand and appeared to blush as she showed off the massive new ring.
Shelton Picked It Out Himself
“He really mixed it up. Usually, I get amazing flowers, which I love, love, love, but this was just a, ‘here you go!’” Stefani said with a smile. “Yeah, he did the whole thing. I love you, Blakey!”
Following their performance, Stefani said the love birds would be making their way back home to spend the evening with her three sons Kingston, 17, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 9.
“I have some water boiling. We’re going to have some ravioli,” Stefani revealed.
“Purple Irises” Performance
For their performance, Stefani and Shelton took to the stage to deliver the television debut of “Purple Irises.” Surrounded by actual purple irises, the couple lovingly gazed in each other’s eyes as they sang the romantic lyrics.
“If someone comes along and tries to love you like I love you/ Don’t know what I’d do/ Don’t want to lose you/ If someone comes along and tries to take you, tries to make you/ Don’t let them change your mind/ Wonder why you took a risk/ On a broken heart you cannot fix/ No I never knew a love like this/ Now we’re picking purple irises,” goes the chorus.
Who Wrote “Purple Irises”?
Stefani co-wrote the song with Jakob Hazell, Niko Rubio and Svante Halldin. Award-winning producer and Shelton’s longtime collaborator, Scott Hendricks, produced the track.

“’Purple Irises’ is a song that comes from the idea that when you plant something you are planting hope and watching love grow,” Stefani shared in a statement. “Weathering all the different seasons of growth. We are in this together, we planted the seeds together and we are growing together.”
“We love this song so much,” Shelton, 47, added. “It’s a song Gwen wrote with a couple of friends of hers, and I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. She knew there was something different about it and asked me to come in and sing with her. My longtime producer, Scott Hendricks, produced it, and Gwen’s been wanting to work with him for a long time now…”
Shelton and Stefani Previously Collaborated On Several Duets
“Purple Irises” follows the couple’s previous collaborations “Nobody But You,” “Happy Anywhere,” “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” and the holiday anthem, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.”
Stefani is preparing to reunite with No Doubt at Coachella while Shelton is gearing up to hit the road on his much anticipated Back To The Honky Tonk Tour. The 17-date trek launches on February 22 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and will run through March 29 in Wichita, Kansas.
He will be joined on the tour by Dustin Lynch and Emily Ann Roberts.
