Who is Darla McFarland? Meet Lainey Wilson’s new alter ego.

Wilson first introduced fans to her new comedic persona via an Instagram account for Darla McFarland.

“Well y’all…guess I had to join this thing finally. Don’t know what I’m doing but ready for y’all to see a little something something I have been working on. If y’all don’t know me… I’m Darla McFarland. Glad y’all are here,” Wilson wrote, introducing her alter ego to fans.

The photo shared features Darla donning denim bell bottoms, a western button-up shirt, gold hoop earrings, and curly haired wig. One fan even noticed that her hair looked very similar to her manager Mandelyn’s locks.

“Looks like @mandelynmonchick was in charge of Darla’s curls 👩🏻‍” one user wrote.

This isn’t Lainey Wilson’s first time going by a different alias. The country superstar made her acting debut as a musician named Abby on season 5 of Paramount Network’s Yellowstone

Joining Hot Country Knights

Darla McFarland will soon make her musical debut as she joins Hot Country Knights on a brand-new song, “Herassmeant.”

The hilarious new song, which was co-written by Dierks Bentley, Lainey Wilson, Luke Dick and Jim Beavers, finds Doug and Darla poking fun at the viral success surrounding Lainey Wilson’s butt while creating a pun on the word harassment.

“Baby got back / but she ain’t coming back / no I ain’t I’m keeping my shelf to myself / now my anaconda’s lonesome as hell / oh her herassmeant everything to me / just had to slap it every time I wore them bell bottom jeans / lord I hated to see her go / oh, but he loved to watch me leave / herassmeant everything to me / when I hear ‘Fat Bottomed Girls,’ girl I shed a tear / yes I do,” Doug and Darla sang, as they traded verses to the parody track.

In addition to co-writing the song, Dierks Bentley also serves as the frontman for Hot Country Knights under the comedic persona Douglas ‘Doug’ Dougalson.

The ‘90s country comedy band later compared Doug and Darla to some of country music’s greatest duos. “Garth and Trisha. Tim and Faith. Brooks and Dunn. And now… Doug and Darla #Herassmeant,” the group wrote on Instagram.

Hot Country Knights took to social media to tease the new song on Tuesday (May 23), where they wrote, “#newmusic (volume up) featuring a lady with big ol’… voice. #Herassmeant

The group later shared a video from the recording studio, revealing that the song will drop “very soon” and will feature McFarland.

#Herassmeant will be one of our greatest hits, starting……very soon,” Hot Country Knights captioned the clip.

The tune is set to appear on Hot Country Knight’s forthcoming new project, MidKnight Rodeo.

The forthcoming new project will serve as the follow-up to their debut album, The K Is Silent, which arrived on May 1, 2020. The K Is Silent features the project’s lead single “Pick Her Up (featuring Travis Tritt),” as well as the fan-favorite tunes “Asphalt,” “Moose Knuckle Shuffle,” “Kings Of Neon,” “You Make It Hard (featuring Terri Clark)” and more.

No. 1 hits

Lainey Wilson recently earned her third and fourth no. 1 hit with “Heart Like A Truck” and “wait in the truck,” a collaboration with HARDY.

She also announced “Watermelon Moonshine” as her new single, which is set to impact Country radio on Monday, May 29. This nostalgic ballad was co-written by Wilson alongside Jordan Schmidt and Josh Kear and is featured on her critically-acclaimed sophomore album, Bell Bottom Country.

“I’ve lived quite a bit of life the past few years, and I have a lot more to say,” Wilson shared of the new album. “Sure, I love a good pair of bell bottoms, but Bell Bottom Country to me has always been about the flare and what makes someone unique — I have really embraced mine, and I hope y’all can hear that across this project.”
