Jelly Roll has made it his mission to hold nothing back as he delivers the raw truth through his music. His newest song, “she,” does just that as he directly speaks on the fight with addiction.

The rising country star has his own past experiences as a former addict and drug dealer, and with the perspective in his recent release, he is bringing awareness to the reality behind the battle for both the person going through it and those around them who fear for their loved one.

Jelly Roll – she

“‘she’ is about the struggle of addiction. ‘she’ is about talking about the elephant in the room and addressing head-on the heroin and fentanyl epidemic that is sweeping the nation; the pharmaceutical pill problem that is sweeping the nation, and has been for a long time,” Jelly Roll shared in a release. “And I feel like it’s an artist’s responsibility to speak for those who sometimes can’t always speak for themselves.”

This powerful ballad falls under the category, that Jelly Roll refers to as “therapeutic music.” Throughout the song, he acknowledges what it’s like to watch someone slowly decline and fade away as a result of what “started with a little pill.”

“She was the life of the party / She was the one everybody / Used to wanna hang around / I bet they wonder where she is now / I wish I woulda known / Beforе she was too far gone / I’m afraid to lose hеr now / She’s afraid of comin’ down,” he sings in the chorus.

In addition, for the release of “she,” Jelly Roll has partnered with Shatterproof, which according to a recent release, is “a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the addiction crisis and the devastation caused by the disease of addiction.” The shocking number of people that die every hour from a drug overdose has reached 11. Knowing that, Jelly Roll hopes that his song will increase awareness of addiction prevention, treatment and recovery resources provided by Shatterproof and help save lives.

On December 2, Jelly Roll will also drop an accompanying music video, featuring actress Danielle Macdonald. Fans can watch the video premiering at 7:00pm EST, following his livestream on YouTube Rodeo at 6:30pm EST.

The new song comes in the midst of a breakthrough year for Jelly Roll. His list of accomplishments includes earning a gold-certified song with “Son of a Sinner,” which is also his current radio single climbing to the top of the charts.

In addition, he sold out numerous venues, made his Grand Ole Opry debut, earned his first-ever No. 1 as a singer/songwriter with his debut Rock single “Dead Man Walking,” and has held the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart for 15 weeks.
