Jo Dee Messina is mourning the loss of her mother, Mary Messina. The country singer took to Instagram on Sunday (April 19) to pay tribute to her mom, who passed away that morning.
“God knew exactly what he was doing when he made me my mother’s daughter. She loved me perfectly in a way that only she could do. She was my encouragement and she believed in me at times when no one else did. She understood the way I thought and she understood the way I felt. What a blessing she was to me, my entire life,” Messina wrote.
The singer went on to share that she is comforted by the fact that her mother “went home to be with The Lord” and that she is now “reunited with her family.”
Her touching post concluded with a message that her mother often used to share with her.
“Here is a little something my mother used to tell me: ‘There is a string that ties your heart to mine. It is a string that can never be broken. There is no distance too far – not even death can break the string that ties my heart to yours…’”
Messina did not reveal her mother’s cause of death, however, over the years, she shared that her mother was experiencing some off-and-on health issues.
Our thoughts are with Jo Dee Messina and her family at this time.
