Kip Moore took a brief hiatus from releasing music, but now he’s back and better than ever with his first new song in nearly two years – “Live Here To Work.” The multi-platinum-selling singer/songwriter returns with his signature country/rock style, delivering a bold statement about embracing life to the fullest and recognizing that work shouldn’t be the only thing that matters.
“Live Here to Work” was written solely by Moore and finds him reuniting with co-producer Jaren Johnston to create a powerful guitar-driven anthem. Throughout the upbeat song, Moore makes it clear he’s had enough of the constant 9-5 grind six days a week and is now rebelling as he sings, “F**k that, I don’t live here to work/ My time is short and it ain’t yours/ Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind getting my hands in a little dirt/ But I don’t live here to work.”
Highlighting The Importance Of A Work/Life Balance
Maintaining a healthy work-life balance can be challenging for many people, but This song shows that if you let work dominate your life, burnout is inevitable. Even Moore admits he knows what it’s like to reach a point where he’s ready to give up work altogether and instead, spend his days relaxing and drinking an “ice-cold beer.”
“I think it’s easy as humans to get caught up in the mundaneness of day-to-day tasks and responsibilities,” said the Georgia native. “Everyone’s had that feeling where they’ve hit that limit and you’re just like ‘f**k that, I have to get off this hamster wheel or my spirit’s gonna die.’ We played it live for the first time at a show a few weeks ago and people lost it. It’s going to be fun to see how others embrace it… or don’t.”
“Live Here To Work” Marks New Musical Chapter
Kip Moore first teased the new music last week along with the announcement of his new partnership with Virgin Music Group, signaling that he is ready to step into the next phase of his career.
This partnership comes just months after the “Damn Love” singer cut ties with his longtime label, MCA Nashville. He shared the news with fans in a statement on social media, which found him reflecting on the time he had with his former team and sharing gratitude for the support he received throughout his time there.
“I’ve been extremely grateful for the opportunity to make records on a label like MCA over the last 10-plus years. They’ve been such a top-notch team and I’ve been so lucky to have had the freedom through the years to do it my way,” he wrote.
The country singer went on to note how his team worked “tirelessly” to help him throughout his career and for that, he is “forever grateful.”
Nomad World Tour
Kip Moore is currently performing a 14-show run across Australia and New Zealand as part of his headlining Nomad World Tour. The trek will return to the U.S. in November and continue through December, where he will wrap things up with back-to-back shows in Boston.
