With the pressure cranked all the way up at American Idol’s Hollywood Week, 22-year-old Kutter Bradley pushed his nerves aside and delivered a performance to remember. Tapping into his Alabama roots, he chose to showcase his country side with HARDY’s “BOOTS,” in an attempt to win over the judges and earn a spot in the Season 24 Top 30.

The stakes were at an all-time high as he hit the stage, especially after watching his fellow competitors shine for the first time outside of the audition room. Kutter admitted the weight of the moment was hitting harder than ever, but he wasn’t going to let the fear stop him from giving the performance his all.

“Everyone out here is mind blowing, so my nerves are definitely up now,” he stated. “I never would’ve thought I’d be right here, ever. It’s just kind of a dream that I don’t realize that I’m living. This is a huge opportunity for me.”

Kutter goes on to explain that moving away from home to pursue this dream wasn’t easy. He says he essentially left everything behind, proving just how bad he really does want this to work out.

The hopeful singer stepped on stage in his camo, blue jeans and his cowboy boots, creating the perfect image for the country-rock anthem he was about to deliver. Any nerves that he may have had were quickly shut down once he hit those slow opening notes of the HARDY track. Kutter went on to relay the breakup story, told the morning after everything finally falls apart between a couple.

In between the epic guitar riffs and steady drumbeats, the 22 year-old’s signature growl came out to play, the same one that Lionel Richie called attention to during his audition. His unique voice cut through every lyric, giving the performance a rugged, soulful sound that seemed to win over the audience and the Idol judging panel, especially Carrie Underwood.

The Idol alum had nothing but praise for Kutter as she said, “I feel like you’ve got a solid voice. I feel like you’ve got a big range. You were like a lion pacing back and forth, getting ready to bust out of the cage…it was good, it was good.”

The fire protection worker’s performance earned him a spot in the golden room, where he waited anxiously to find out if he made it to the Top 30. Later on in the night, he heard his name called, meaning he is officially moving on in the competition.

According to the show’s host, Ryan Seacrest, the Top 30 contestants will have “one more hurdle” to overcome before making it to the fan-voted rounds. They will be leaving Nashville behind and head to Disney’s Aulani resort in Hawaii, where a “game changing twist” will be waiting for them.

Next Monday (March 9), viewers will see the performers take part in the “Ohana Round.” For the first time, their performances will go beyond the judging panel and putting the important decisions in the hands of three different groups: The Idols, the families, and industry experts.

From there, the Top 20 will be determined. Tune in next week to see it all unfold.

New episodes of American Idol air Monday nights when at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and on streaming the following day on Hulu.
