Lauren Alaina bids farewell to heartbreak in “Getting Over Him,” her just-released duet with country hitmaker Jon Pardi, and it’s going to be a massive hit.

The playful song takes a laid back approach to a rebound and finds Alaina seeking out a no strings attached hookup to heal her broken heart.

“We were dive bar kissing/ Heartbreak fixing/ No strings, Saturday night/ Hot like a match, that burned out fast/ Forever wasn’t in our eyes/ You knew it, and I knew it/ And it was a damn good time/ My last call, first call, no falling/ Just my getting over him guy,” the longtime friends sing on the chorus.

Alaina, who co-wrote the song alongside Paul DiGiovanni and Emily Weisband, says Pardi was the perfect pick for this collab.

“I’ve done duets with other people for their projects, but I have never done any for my own,” she acknowledged. “I’ve got a duet with Pardi on his album, and then he loved this one. His energy is so amazing.”

“I can’t believe I have a rebound song – but I do,” she added with a laugh.

“Getting Over Him” is the title cut from the Georgia native’s forthcoming six-track EP. Out September 4, the project showcases Alaina’s growth as a songwriter and vocalist and offers an in-depth look into the singer’s personal life as she held nothing back when writing and recorded the songs.

“Music is my lifeline,” she previously shared. “Music literally pulls me out of everything I ever go through [career,  heartbreak, family, self-worth, love] and I feel really empowered with this music. I feel like this music shows my personal growth and my emotional growth. This EP of songs is all about loving myself through other people not loving me and not staying with me. It’s about me being able to get back to that same confident girl I wrote about on Road Less Travelled and to hold on to that confidence. I get to celebrate that with this music and I am so excited. I can’t wait for the fans to hear it.”
