Kip Moore’s new single, “Learning As I Go,” offers a mature perspective on the importance of learning from mistakes and not letting small setbacks get to you.
Penned by Moore with Dan Couch, Luke Preston and Oscar Charles and co-produced with Jaren Johnston, the honest track brings the singer/songwriter’s grungy rock/country sound to a head while sending a powerful message to listeners. He reflects on some of his past mistakes and reveals that while every misstep may feel determinantal at the time, sometimes those are the things that need to happen in order to learn and grow.
“I’m learning as I go/ I’m learning how to be/ I’m learning how when I break it down/ There’s little that I need/ Say sorry man when you need to and/ Keep a pocket full of hope/ I’m still a gun, but I’ve settled some/ I’m learning as I go,” Moore sings on the chorus.
The Georgia native’s wise spirit is captured throughout the motivational, mid-tempo tune, highlighting his ability to navigate even the toughest moments with maturity and resilience.
“I just recorded ‘Learning As I Go’ before I left for Australia, and the feeling in the studio and then once we got the recording back, was so palpable, we wanted to get it out there as soon as possible,” Moore shared in a recent statement.
That same energy he felt that day radiates through the recording that offers listeners a good lesson on the reality of life.
“I think it’s a pretty universal feeling to feel like a failure if you slip up once or twice, but there is a beauty in learning from those perceived ‘mistakes’ that I think we sometimes miss. This track is about embracing the lessons instead of beating yourself up about not getting it right the first time,” he added.
Available everywhere through Virgin Music Group, “Learning As I Go” serves as the second song Moore has released in less than a month, following “Live Here to Work,” the first new music he has released in nearly two years. This song also delivers a bold statement as it reminds fans to embrace life to the fullest and recognize that work shouldn’t be the only thing that matters.
Both songs give fans an early look into his forthcoming new album and mark the start of a new musical chapter for the “Damn Love” singer that began when he entered into a new partnership with Virgin Music Group. This partnership came just months after Moore cut ties with his longtime label, MCA Nashville.
This next step in his journey also includes his 14-show Nomad World Tour that wrapped a in Australia earlier this week after playing sold-out arenas. Kip Moore is now gearing up for his highly anticipated return to South Africa where he performed to stadium crowds of over 40,000 fans last year, followed by a run of shows across the U.S. that kicks off in November and continues through December. He will bring things to a close with back-to-back shows in Boston.
