Noah Hicks ponders the possibility of giving love a second chance in his heartfelt new song, “Second Time Around” featuring fellow rising star, Shaylen

Penned by Hicks alongside Zach Abend, Jessi Alexander, and Jeremy Stover, the reflective track hones in on a couple who fell in love when they were young and ultimately couldn’t make things work. Although time has passed and they have both lived their lives separately, they are now finding themselves back together, wondering if they should give the relationship another try.

The artists take turns coming clean on their vices in the opening verse, allowing them to have a more open and honest conversation about where things went wrong.

Hicks sings, “I was a beer drinking, hell raising/ Every Friday night I was out chasing the moon/ ‘Stead of hanging with you” while Shaylen admits, “I had a short fuse, jealous/ Looking back now, I was selfish and lied/ When I said that I never loved you.”

The stirring duet progresses with more maturity and hopefulness between the couple within the storyline as they consider what their future could look like together.

“’Cause the first time we were young/ The first time we were drunk/ The first time, baby, we burned real high/ But we faded like the sun/ The first time it was crazy/ We got real close but maybе/ Tonight we’re gonna find forevеr like we never found/ The second time around,” they deliver on the chorus.

The energy that dances between them with so much magnitude is further emphasized in the accompanying video that was captured during their time in the studio together.

While known for his usual back-road anthems inspired by his small-town roots, this song finds the rising country artist embracing his more emotional side. Hicks pours his heart out through his raspy vocals, which pair perfectly with the silky-smooth notes that his Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment labelmate belts out throughout the track.

“I’ve been excited about ‘Second Time Around’ for a long time! It shows a bit of a different side of me,” Hicks said in a recent statement. “It’s even more awesome that Shaylen jumped on it with me. She literally has the perfect voice for this song, and she absolutely crushed it. Someone said it sounds even better the second time around…”

Shaylen expressed the Carrollton, GA native’s enthusiasm for working together on “Second Time Around.”

She shared, “The second I heard this song and Noah’s voice I was all in,” shared Shaylen. “I’m so honored he thought of me for it and couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with such a rockstar!”

Noah Hicks and Shaylen are set to perform during the upcoming, free multi-artist concert in downtown Nashville on September 13. This event will take place as a part of FREEDOM FRIDAY events kicking off the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix weekend. Both performers will return to the stage the following day as part of the lineup tapped for the event located at Nashville Superspeedway.
