In an unprecedented move, American Idol is preparing to air the remainder of the current season with at-home shows showcasing contestants’ performances from their homes around the country. While producers scramble to make that happen, the show aired a night of unseen performances from the current contestants during Sunday night’s (April 19) episode.

One performance that had everyone talking is Francisco Martin’s extended audition tape where he covered King of Leon’s 2008 hit, “Use Somebody.” The judges clapped and cheered along as Martin offered his unique take on the song.

Luke Bryan couldn’t contain his excitement over the performance and ended up singing along with Martin throughout the song.

When his performance concluded, the judges gushed over Matin’s talent and Bryan declared: “I think you’re top five!”

Katy Perry even went on to reveal that Bryan had written down the word “winner” on a piece of paper in front of him during the performance.

Clearly overcome with emotion, Martin appeared to have tears in his eyes as he received his ticket to Hollywood.

The aspiring singer is an early judge favorite and went on to impress the judges with a Harry Styles cover in Hawaii.
