Baby makes three!
Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd are expecting their first child together and it’s a boy, the couple announced Tuesday (Oct. 22) via Instagram.
“The irony is just too rich that after a year of living in the “GIRL” headspace, the universe would give us a baby boy to even things out,” Morris wrote. “See you in 2020, little one. ??”
The soon-to-be father also shared the exciting news on Instagram, writing, “MY BOYS CAN SWIM. BABY BOY HURD 2020! Look at her…cannot believe this life with this girl. Also, thank you George Constanza for this caption that I’ve been sitting on my entire life…”
Morris has never been shy about her desire to become a mother. In 2018, the “Girl” singer hosted a fan Q&A on Twitter and when a fan asked if she planned to have kids someday, she quickly confirmed, writing, “I literally have it blocked out on my calendar next year ?.”
Later, she opened up to People about the idea of having children and shared that it’s something she and Hurd often talked about before tying the knot.
“If you’re gonna get married, you have to have those talks beforehand anyways, and I definitely know that I want a family, and he would be such an amazing dad; he’s such a kid himself,” she told the publication. “I love his family, and he loves my family, so we’ve definitely had those conversations, and they’ve been really fun and exciting.”
The singer/songwriters met in 2013 during a writing session in Nashville. The pair quickly struck up a friendship and began to collaborate together often. Their friendship flourished and soon, they realized there was chemistry between them.
Morris and Hurd began dating in late 2015 and in the summer of 2017, Hurd proposed to Morris while the couple was visiting his family’s lakehouse in Michigan. The pair tied the knot on March 24, 2018 in Nashville.
