Morgan Wallen took to Instagram on Sunday evening (July 4) to share a portion of a brand new song, “Drink U Back.”

The singer/songwriter shared a minute-long acoustic performance of the new song and asked, “Should me and Ernest finish this?”

Seated on a white chair near a fireplace in what appears to be a living room, Wallen performed the song with just an acoustic guitar.

The lyrics are:

“Don’t know what it is about today that made me think the way I am / Maybe it’s the way these Alabama pines swing / It reminds me of how you dance / Now I’m pulling out your pictures while I’m pulling on a fifth / Why the hell I race to forget you / got me remembering / Where’d you go now baby / No, you can’t be that far / ‘Cause all that I been feeling lately / Is you creeping back on my heart / Thought I put enough miles down to get you going by now / But now I hear you saying no so fast / Thought I’d finally drink ‘you gone / So I’d try to drink u back / tried to drink u back…”

According to his post, Wallen co-wrote “Drink U Back” with ERNEST, who co-wrote 11 tracks, including “Wasted On You,” “More Than My Hometown,” and “Somebody’s Problem,” on his record-breaking sophomore project, Dangerous: The Double Album. ERNEST and Wallen have been spending quite a bit of time together and are often seen on the golf course with one another.

The new song snippet comes just days after Wallen was in the studio with his longtime friend and collaborator, HARDY. He did not specific what Wallen was recording, however, HARDY did say that Wallen “crushed” his vocal on the song.
