Parker McCollum may have just dropped the name of his first son.

The country star and his wife, Hallie Ray Light, previously shared a list of possible names, which left fans eagerly waiting to hear what their final decision will be. Among their top five choices, three of them included the “Burn It Down” singer’s family name, Yancey, after his late grandfather, Bobby Yancey, his mother, Stacey Yancey, and his own full name, Parker Yancey McCollum.

During a recent appearance on the Spencer Graves Show, McCollum revealed that they are currently leaning towards the final name on the original list they shared – Major Yancey McCollum.

Where Did The Idea For This Name Come From?

When first asked if Yancy could be their son’s middle name, the country star confirmed, “that’s what she wants.” McCollum then added that Hallie Ray likes Major as the first name, which appears to have been his idea.

“It’s dope. I was watching Rosebowl highlights, and I saw Major Applewhite and I was like, ‘damn, Major McCollum would be sick,’” he shared of the moment inspiration struck him.

The couple is currently enjoying their last few weeks of preparation before Baby McCollum makes his long-awaited arrival in August.

Sharing The Exciting News Of Their First Pregnancy

The parents-to-be were excited to announce their pregnancy on Wednesday (Feb. 7) through a joint post via Instagram. The post captured the couple sharing a kiss while on their tropical getaway to St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands and featured Hallie Ray holding her growing baby bump.

“God’s little blessing. We Iove you so much already, Baby M,” she wrote at the time, to which Parker McCollum hilariously commented, “Wow! Awesome news! So happy to hear about this! I love you babe! Congrats!”

McCollum and his other half tied the knot on March 28, 2022 at Boxwood Manor in Tomball, Texas after getting engaged in July of 2021.

Update On New Music From Parker McCollum

In between balancing his life on the road and gearing up to welcome his first child, the Texas native is also thinking about what’s next for him musically.

While he admitted to Audacy’s Scott Kay that his next album is already in the works, he admits he doesn’t have any intentions of letting his shift in his family life overlap with his songwriting. This means that it’s likely fans won’t be getting any dad songs from him in the future.

“No dad songs for me…I don’t want to write cliche dad songs. If it’s something that really stands out and is well-written and really honest and special, then I would cut it. But I don’t think I’ll sit down and try to write dad songs any time soon,” he shared honestly.
