One of country music’s hottest new talents, Priscilla Block, has released her highly anticipated new song, “Wish You Were the Whiskey,” and the powerful breakup anthem is destined to take her career to the next level.

The song compares an ex to a bottle of whiskey. During the emotional tune, Block portrays the feeling of trying to forget the pain of a breakup with a drink at the bar. Unlike the ex that left, the whiskey will always be there for her. Her words ring true throughout the intoxicating song, as she conveys the pain of being alone through her vocals.

“Now I’m drunk, like a fireball lighting me up/ Put it to my lips and I feel that rush/ Letting 80 proof do what it does/ And I’m high, it’s rocking me through the night/ Keeping me warm, holding me so tight/ Finally feeling fine, and then it hits me/ I wish you were the whiskey,” Block sings on the chorus.

The rising star originally penned the song with hopes that Jason Aldean would record it, however, it never ended up in Aldean’s hands so she decided to record the song herself.

Wish You Were The Whiskey” is one of six tracks that will be included on Block’s just-announced self-titled EP.

“This EP is such a vulnerable side of who I am and where I’ve been,” Block shared in a press release. “It’s my story of falling apart in order to find myself again. I hope that when you hear these songs, they make you feel that it’s ok to not be perfect and realize that sometimes we need the lows to value the highs… AND ONCE YOU REGAIN THAT CONFIDENCE… LET IT SHOW BABY!”

Block is set to make her debut at Grand Ole Opry on Saturday, May 1. Fans can tune in live on Circle TV or watch it on a livestream on Circle All Access Facebook, YouTube and Twitter channels.

Priscilla Block’s self-titled, six-track EP will be available to stream on Friday, April 30. Fans can pre-save the project by clicking HERE
