Randy Rogers Band has returned with their first release in nearly two years. Their new single, “Break Itself,” out now, marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter and gives a glimpse into what the future holds for the band.
This release follows the band’s 20th anniversary celebration with the career-changing album, Rollercoaster. While that project was a tribute to their roots, “Break Itself” ushers in a fresh era, blending a new sound with the timeless Texas spirit that has defined their music for over two decades.
The introspective track sheds a light on heartbreak from the eyes of the person who has caused the pain to his other half. Randy Rogers, who co-wrote the tender storyline alongside Parker McCollum and Randy Montana, joins his bandmates in delivering a narrative that has already touched the hearts of their loyal listeners.

Together, they illustrate the emotions an individual feels when they realize their mistakes are what led to the demise of a relationship, because no matter how hard their partner tried to stick through the tough times, they ultimately didn’t get the same kind of love and commitment in return.
“I learned the hard way what you knew all along/ That I couldn’t love you through a telephone/ When I got back home, the whole house was dark/ You left me a note before you left in your car,” they sing through the stunning instrumentals.
The band’s signature Red Dirt sound comes through the chorus with a new introspective edge that effortlessly captures the pain and self-awareness of a relationship falling apart.
They continue, “And I know that bags don’t get packed on their own/ Get thrown in the backseat and drive off alone/ And I know that cowboys put angels through hell/ Girl, I know your heart didn’t break itself/ I know your heart didn’t break itself.”

The Making Of The Song
Reflecting on how the song came to be, Rogers explained that he and Montana go way back as they used to be labelmates at Mercury Records. Their friendship made for an easy writing session already, and adding in McCollum’s deep Texas roots made it feel complete. He went on to say that “Break Itself” was written a few years ago and has been “knocking around for a minute,” just waiting for the right time to be shared.
“I loved the song and finally got it cut,” Rogers admitted before touching on the relatable storyline, “We all have been there at one point or another, and that’s what I love about country music. People can’t attach themselves to stories and it’s just a story, unfortunately a sad one, but hey, it’s country music.”
Rogers revealed that “Break Itself” wasn’t originally meant to be the song that marked their return, but it ended up standing out among the rest for its ability to capture the sound and authentic storytelling that the legendary Texas act deeply values.
“Originally it wasn’t. There was a few others that we had in the can, but when I got in and we did vocals and everything got shined up real good, it stuck out. I think reasons it stuck out, it’s a waltz, it’s a country, it’s kind of tried and true Randy Rogers band, in a sense. Not that we strayed from that ever because it’s same guys in the studio that you see on the stage on every record, but it’s got your vintage classic Randy Rogers band appeal to it, in my opinion,” he told Country Now.
More Music To Come

This is just one of many songs to come from the band in 2025. They have been busy working in the studio with producer, Jedd Hughes, to record their next project, which the Texas native teased is set to include a duet with somebody “really important.”
Giving an update on their next set of releases, Rogers shared, “We’ve recorded, I think, five are mastered with Jedd Hughes producing and then we’re going to go back in this year and record more. So we’ve got a duet that’s going to come out with somebody really important, can’t tell you who, but that’s in the can and other new songs that are being be released, maybe every quarter or so this year, and just continue to put stuff out.”
“We’ve been in the game now almost 25 years, so I think more is kind of better at this point. And so that’s going to be our goal is to just hopefully write really great songs that get to stick around in the set list and put ’em out,” he added.
Reflecting On The Band’s 20+ Year Journey
As the Randy Rogers Band looks ahead to this next era of their music, Rogers has took a moment an reflect on the incredible journey that’s gotten them to this point. Despite the challenges and the ups and downs they have faced over the years, he is grateful for the loyal fan base and the path they’ve carved for themselves in the music industry by staying true to themselves.
“Being a band this long and the same guys in a band this long is kind of unheard of. Keeping it between the lines on the road is kind of unheard of. So we are very thankful that we have the fan base that we have that has stuck with us through good times and the bad and the highlights and the low points. It is pretty much a rollercoaster out here and the career has definitely been that way,” he shared honestly. “I just feel very thankful, I guess that we made the decisions that we made, which was to stick together to write and record our own music, to do it our way, to not chase radio success or radio hits, although that would’ve been nice…
Rogers continued, “We have a really great career and a great fan base and I really can’t say enough about the people that support the music because the way we make our living is playing live and be able to say that we’ve done it for this long and continue to do it at the level that we do it at, it’s really a testament to those people that have fallen in love with the songs of course.”

During their latest performance at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, the band was celebrated for their years of hard work and commitment when Kid Rock walked out onto stage and presented them with three new RIAA certifications – Gold “Buy Myself a Chance,” Platinum “Kiss Me in the Dark,” and Platinum “In My Arms Instead.” This milestone moment took place amid their 2025 U.S. run, which will include select stops with their close friend, Parker McCollum during his own headline tour this year.
