Written by Luke Laird, Hillary Lindsey and Lady A’s Hillary Scott, the lyrics share an experience Scott went through after a difficult break up. The story follows the female narrator as she copes with the pain of constantly being reminded of her past love.

“When I found out ‘A Little Bit Stronger’ was being recorded, that’s been one of the coolest little victories that I’ve ever felt in being proud of a piece of work that I’m a part of,” Scott previously shared with The Boot.

“A Little Bit Stronger” was a breakthrough song for Evans, acting as the first single from the country artist to get certified Platinum by the RIAA. The track climbed the charts quickly, and in May 2011, was the fifth song by Evans to hit No.1 on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. It also gained recognition in the film industry, securing a spot on the soundtrack for the movie Country Strong in 2010.

Evans took the stage at the 2011 Academy of Country Music Awards to perform the hit single. She later performed the song on the Dancing with the Stars stage during the twelfth season finale on May 24, 2011.
