Runaway June just broke a 14-year chart record with their latest hit “Buy My Own Drinks.”

The harmony-loving trio, comprised of Jennifer Wayne, Naomi Cooke and Hannah Mulholland, just scored their first-ever Top 20 hit with their infectious single, “Buy My Own Drinks.”

Their latest accomplishment marks the first time in 14 years that a female trio’s song has reached the chart position of 20 or higher. The last time a track from an all-female trio landed in the Top 20 was in 2005 when both The Dixie Chicks and SHeDAISY regularly appeared on the charts.

“We love being a part of country music!” Mulholland said of the band’s history-making triumph in a statement. “This has been an amazing year, being on tour with Carrie Underwood – and now to having our first Top 20 song and to be the first female group to achieve this in nearly 15 years is insane.”

The breakthrough comes after Runaway June’s earlier career achievement of becoming the first all-female trio in over a decade to score three Top 40 hits with “Buy My Own Drinks,” “Lipstick,” and “Wild West.”

Fans who wish to hear more music from the band won’t have to wait much longer, because the trio will release their debut album, Blue Roses, on June 28. The 10-track collection, produced by Dan Huff and Ross Copperman, includes the title track and “Buy My Own Drinks,” which they co-wrote, alongside Hillary Lindsey and Josh Kear. In addition, the record includes a cover of Dwight Yoakam’s 1993 hit, “Fast as You.”

“We’ve been together for four years now, but this is our debut album,” Mulholland explained of the project, which will be celebrated at the Grand Ole Opry upon release. “We really harmonized as a band through songwriting and being out on the road, so I feel like, through that journey we were able to learn more about ourselves as people—as women, as performers, as artists—and figure out what we wanted to say, all of that is reflected in these songs.”

Runaway June is currently continuing their run as a supporting act for Carrie Underwood’s 2019 Cry Pretty Tour 360, which also features special guests Maddie & Tae.
