For Russell Dickerson the highest level of success isn’t defined by where his songs land on the charts or the number of awards he wins. Instead he feels the most accomplished on the days he makes it home in time to squeeze in 14 hours with his wife Kailey and two young sons, Remington and Radford, before hitting the road again. That balance between the stage and the quiet moments at home is exactly what Dickerson leaned into on his fourth studio album, Famous Back Home.
Out now, the 12-track project offers fans an authentic snapshot into where the country star is at in his life right now. It’s made up partly of his signature high-energy anthems built for his RUSSELLMANIA TOUR crowds while the other half taps into his sentimental side with heartfelt reflections on family, love, and everything in between.

A Look Back On Russell Dickerson’s Musical Journey
While discussing the thought process behind these songs, Dickerson took a look back at his journey starting with the release of his debut album, Yours, in 2017 and recalled how much his life has changed as an artist and as a husband and father up until this point. Along the way, he says the biggest lesson he’s learned is that family will always be his first priority.
“Kids change everything. Anyone with kids knows that. Just, your priorities change. It’s like, ‘We’re going to have to spend all this extra on the tour bus that is just for our family, otherwise we’re never going to see each other.’ It’s all about learning the lessons of that sacrifice,” he explained to Country Now. “That’s what keeps me grounded I think is if I ever prioritize this over the wellness and health of my family, something’s off.”
Much like with his debut album, Dickerson took a completely hands-on approach with Famous Back Home. For the first time since that first record, he was deeply involved in every step of the process.
And while he’s still reaching for those big, arena-ready anthems, he also wanted the album to feel more personal, with heartfelt tracks like “Worth Your Wild,” “For A Truck,” “Love That I Love You,” “16 Me,” and more.

First-Ever Outside Cuts
The fear of putting out music just to feed the hunger of fans or the radio was put aside for Famous Back Home. Dickerson struck a newfound confidence, one that, again, was reminiscent of his early days when his main goal was simply to have fun with the process. He allowed himself to trust his instincts and that included stepping beyond his own writes to record his first pair of outside cuts. “Sippin’ on Top of the World” and “Never Leave” sit right alongside the remaining 10 songs that he did have a hand in co-writing.
“‘Sippin’ On Top Of The World’ was the first one that I got from this batch, and that could have gone on my third album. But I think just living with it and hearing, it’s like big guitars, and I love the vibe. I love the wholesomeness of it, but also it kind of ties in a little bit of the lovey-doveyness of ending your day with your sweetheart on the porch sipping on top of the world,” he explained. “And so I was like, brilliant hook. I’m like, I don’t even want to try to beat this song. And so that’s when my mind went like, okay, yeah, let’s put that in the cut pile.”
Dickerson revealed he nearly lost “Never Leave” to Thomas Rhett, who had the track on hold. But after spending a day at Rhett’s home listening to his new album, Dickerson noticed the song wasn’t part of the lineup. Once he learned it was available again, he wasted no time claiming it and recording it for himself.
“That’s just one that I’m like, first of all, it lines up with my story with me and my wife broke up. I’m sure I’ve talked to all of you about that at some point,” he shared. “But that kind of come crawling back kind of idea that I did in real life, I felt like I couldn’t write a better song describing that…hearing music that I am just blown away by and know that I could try and try to beat a song like that, but I might as well just cut this thing and see what happens.”
The New Album Is Already Gaining Traction Among Fans
This project was co-produced by Dickerson alongside longtime collaborator Josh Kerr, with contributions from Casey Brown and Chris LaCorte on select tracks. He explores a wide-range of sonic themes and stays true to himself, which has already proved to be a hit tactic among his fanbase. Among the track list is previously released anthems like “Bones,” which has continues to rise up the charts, recently making its way into the Top 10, and his latest single, “Happen to Me,” which marked his biggest streaming debut to date with over 172 million global streams.
Other highlights include his tribute to classic country artists and their hits in his nod to David Lee Murphy’s “Dust On The Bottle” with “Dust” and “Heard It In A Country Song,” which Dickerson hails to be a big “if you know, you know” type of song. But at the end of the day, it’s all about being “Famous Back Home.”

Landing On The Title “Famous Back Home”
Russell Dickerson chose “Famous Back Home” as the title track because it sums him up perfectly—a chart-topping artist, a husband, a dad, and someone who never forgets where he came from. This record is his way of showing that the spotlight doesn’t define him, but rather it’s his home life that does.
“You never know going into a write if it’s going to be a good one, right? So I was really hoping. I saved that title, which was my wife’s title by the way. Saved that for the people I could trust the most – Casey Brown [and] Parker Welling,” Dickerson shared. “I had a feeling that it was headed that direction.”
Going into every writing session for this project, Dickerson says he didn’t try to put too much pressure on any one idea or to create something groundbreaking, but rather to speak from the heart and get even more emotional and open with his fans.
“I wanted to write from a place of just where I’m at and right from a place of what I’m excited about,” he pointed out.

With all that said, “Famous Back Home” has turned out to be far more than just an album title. When fans listen to this project, they will be reminded of the fact that everyday moments with loved ones will always matter the most. At its core, the project proves that even when performing in the biggest of arenas under the brightest lights, Dickerson stays true to where he began.
That authenticity will continue to shine on stage with Russell Dickerson’s high energy shows as he moves from city to city on his RUSSELLMANIA TOUR 2025.
