Reba McEntire is giving fans a sneak peek of her much-anticipated new movie, The Hammer, with a brand new, action-packed trailer.

The clip made its debut on Thursday afternoon and teases the film, which is slated for a 2023 release on Lifetime.

Not only does Reba star in the movie, but she also co-produced the project alongside The Cartel and Pahrump Pictures with Stan Spry, Eric Woods, Anthony Fankhauser and Steven St. Arnaud.

Also featured in The Hammer are Reba’s good friend and former Reba co-star, Melissa Peterman, and her longtime boyfriend, Rex Linn.

The upcoming movie was inspired by the life of traveling circuit judge, Kim Wanker.

According to a press release from the network, McEntire will play the role of Kim Wheeler, who is described as “outspoken, firecracker lawyer” who is appointed Juge of the 5th District of Nevada. As one of the few traveling judges left in America, Wheeler finds herself covering a new circuit after the reigning judge passes away under what is described as “suspicious circumstances.”

The plot description goes on to read: “With gavel in hand, she lays down the law with a no-nonsense brand of justice, that quickly earns her the nickname ‘The Hammer.’ As the investigation of the former judge’s death heats up, Kim’s sister Kris (Peterman), who runs the local brothel, suddenly becomes the prime suspect, and Kim must work even harder to make certain the appropriate justice is served.”

Linn is set to play Bart Crawford, “a mysterious cowboy with unknown motives.”

This isn’t the first time McEntire has worked with Lifetime. In 2021, she starred in and executive produced her 2021 holiday film, Reba McEntire’s Christmas in Tune.

The country music icon is staying quite busy with television and film projects. In May, it was announced that she joined Season 3 of ABC’s Big Sky as a series regular. Fans got to see the trailer for the upcoming season when it made its debut in early August.

McEntire previously starred in her own sitcom, Reba, for six seasons and later appeared in Malibu Country, Baby Daddy, Last Man Standing, and Young Sheldon.

Throughout her career, she has appeared in movies such as Tremors and The Little Rascals and voiced characters for Charlotte’s Web, The Land Before Time XIV, PJ Masks, and more.
