The true story of Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn’s friendship is coming to the small screen this fall with the Lifetime debut of Patsy & Loretta. Fans can get a glimpse of the movie in the just-released trailer above.
Starring former Smash actress Megan Hilty as Patsy Cline and Broadway star Jessie Mueller as Loretta Lynn, the biopic follows the country legends as they navigate the music industry and lean on each other when times get tough.
The pair first became friends when Lynn was just a poor coal miner’s daughter with big dreams. Cline, whose career was already established, took Lynn under her wing after she covered one of her songs on stage. Rather than view each other as competition, Lynn and Cline banded together and even joined each other on tour.
Tragedy struck in 1963 when Cline tragically lost her life in a plane crash. Despite the heartache, Lynn continued her career and went on the become the legendary artist she is today.
Patsy & Loretta was shot on location in Nashville and was executive produced by Neil Meron and directed by Nashville creator Callie Khouri. Cline’s daughter, Julie Fudge, and Lynn’s daughter, Patsy Lynn Russell, co-produced the film.
