Is Shania Twain planning to open a bar on Broadway? Reports suggest that Nashville’s Lower Broadway might soon add another celebrity-owned venue to its iconic strip.
Nashville Business Journal has reported that Shania Twain, who turns 59 today, will be partnering with the bar, restaurant and entertainment venue Nashville Underground, which sits at 105 Broadway in between Acme Feed & Seed, and Whiskey River Saloon. This venture will allow Twain to cement her impact with a place of her own in the center of Music City.
The owners of Nashville Underground, singer/songwriters and brothers Joey and Gavin DeGraw, are reportedly going to be involved with the new project. They first opened the multi-level, 55,000-square-foot establishment in 2018 and it has remained a staple for Nashville tourists ever since.
Neither Twain’s team nor sources from Nashville Underground have been able to provide any further information regarding this news.
If this plan comes to fruition as planned, Shania Twain will join the long list of country stars who have opened their own bars and restaurants on the frequently visited Lower Broadway.
The most recent music icons to put their stamp on Music City with multi-level structures include Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Jon Bon Jovi, Garth Brooks and Eric Church. Other artists include Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Alan Jackson, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Hank Williams Jr., Jon Rich, and Kid Rock. Additionally, just a short distance away in Nashville’s Midtown, Old Dominion and Riley Green have confirmed to be building out places of their own.
Most notably, Shania Twain will be the third female country artist to have her name on a Nashville bar, alongside Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa, Lainey Wilson’s Bell Bottoms Up and Tanya Tucker’s Tequila Cantina located inside Nudie’s Honky Tonk.
This new venture will allow the Canadian singer/songwriter to cement her impact on the country music genre with a place of her own in the center of Music City. Throughout her career, Twain has sold over 100 million records worldwide, racked up five GRAMMY awards and remains the top-selling female country pop artist of all time wit hits like “Any Man of Mine,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” “You’re Still the One” and “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!.”
Coming up on Thursday, September 26, Shania Twain will appear as a first-time host on The People’s Choice Country Awards. The global icon will host the show live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
This gig comes in the midst of her current Las Vegas residency, Shania Twain: COME ON OVER – The Las Vegas Residency – All The Hits! This run was born in celebration of the 25th anniversary of her timeless third studio album, Come On Over and serves as her third residency in Sin City. The show returned to Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on August 23 and is scheduled to run through December 14.
