Thomas Rhett may be one of country music’s biggest stars, but he’s also one of the genre’s most doting dads, and he’s putting his love for his family on full display with his new and personal video for his current single, “Remember You Young.”
In this nostalgic masterpiece, viewers get to see home footage of Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, spending time with their two daughters Ada James, 2, and Willa Gray, 4. The baby girls, who seem to be growing up so fast, learn and experience the joys of many firsts from, dressing up as Disney princesses for Halloween to playing the piano together in matching outfits.
“Hey babies crawling on the carpet/ No, you won’t be that little for long/ One day you’ll move away/ But you’re still gonna stay this innocent after you’re gone,” Rhett singes throughout the song’s second verse, adding even more nostalgia to the entire clip.
“We wrote this song about the people in life that we love, and always remembering them in their youth no matter how much time passes and we all change,” Rhett, who shared the official music video for the track in September, previously explained of the song. “There’s something sentimental about remembering your very best friends who have real jobs and families now tearing it up in college, or picturing me and my wife with no cares at the Tin Roof back in Knoxville. I love that the last verse is a bit of twist with it all coming full circle. It actually makes me emotional. It’s easily one of my favorite tracks on the album.”
Rhett, who, will soon welcome a third child with Akins, delivered an impassioned performance of “Remember You Young” earlier this week at the 2019 CMA Awards. Before the show, his sweet daughters accompanied him on the red carpet for the very first time.
“Remember You Young,” which Rhett co-wrote alongside Jesse Frasure and Ashley Gorley.,is the second single from the singer’s fourth studio album, Center Point Road.
