Tucker Wetmore made his Grand Ole Opry debut on Tuesday, September 10, leaving his mark on the iconic Nashville stage with a performance that earned him a standing ovation.
The emerging artist captivated the packed audience with a three-song set that included his first single at country radio, “Wind Up Missin’ You,” the forthcoming track from his just-announced debut EP “Silverado Blue,” and a first-ever delivery of his unreleased track, “What Not To.”
While his career is moving at a rapid speed, Wetmore still makes sure to stop and reflect on the dreams that have gotten him to this point. He took a second to do just that on stage this week as he recalled the moment he manifested his own fate during a previous visit to the coveted venue.
“Before I moved to Nashville, I came here with my mom in 2020. I remember sitting out front and looking at her the very first day I had ever been to Nashville and I said, ‘I’m going to play that one day’ and I’m doing it right now,” Wetmore shared. “I’m here to tell you that if you think you can do something, if you have a dream of doing something, you can… and if you’re wondering how to do it, Philippians 4:13 says ‘I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength’.”
Wetmore Was Presented Two RIAA GOLD Plaques
It’s been just six months since the Kalama, Wash. native scored back-to-back spots on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with his debut singles “Wine Into Whiskey” and “Wind Up Missin’ You.” To commemorate this rare success, UMG Nashville Chair and CEO Cindy Mabe and Back Blocks Music CEO Rakiyah Marshall surprised Wetmore on stage with two RIAA GOLD plaques.
Wetmore’s Opry debut happened to fall on Face The Fight Night, which aims to raise awareness against veteran suicide. With this being such an important cause, he made sure to show his support by removing his hat and highlighting the veterans who were seated in the crowd, watching from home, who are still serving and have lost their lives.
“It’s a night for the wars they endured and the battles they continue to endure back home,” Wetmore said on stage.
Debut EP To Feature Five New Songs
Prior to this unforgettable night, Wetmore revealed details surrounding his debut EP, Waves on a Sunset, which is set to drop Oct. 4. In anticipation of the eight-song project, Wetmore is dropping a brand-new song, “Silverado Blue,” this Friday, Sept. 13.
“In a lot of ways, this feels like my introduction to the world, so I wanted to share some sides of me y’all haven’t seen yet. I’ll be giving you eight songs with five brand new ones,” Wetmore shared with fans. “The first one, ‘Silverado Blue,’ is dropping on Friday, and the rest are following on Oct. 4.”
Both the collection and the upcoming headline tour are named after Wetmore’s favorite line in the song that has completely changed his life – “Wind Up Missin’ You.”
“I thought it was only fitting to name both my first project and first tour after my favorite line, ‘waves on a sunset.’ These songs have been mine for a while, but I can’t wait to make them ours. Thank you all for everything, love you guys.”
