Megan Moroney’s September 10 concert in Birmingham, UK was unexpectedly interrupted by an unruly fan who threw a hat at her while she was performing on stage.
Moroney, who is in the midst of her nearly sold-out 15-date Georgia Girl Tour of the UK and Europe, handled the situation like a pro, dodging the flying hat and continuing her performance of “28th of June” without missing a beat.

Despite the distraction, Moroney maintained her composure and the show continued on.
Moments later, Moroney gave him the finger as security removed him from the video. She later clarified the situation in a TikTok comment. “A guy threw a hat at me & it scared the hell out of me. I gave a 🖕🏼when he was getting kicked out & continued to be obnoxious.”

Moroney’s drummer Eric Pritchard, took to social media to express frustration over the behavior. “We come to your cities, we’re away from our families and regular lives to make your night exciting,” he wrote. “Please do us the simple courtesy of not throwing stuff at us.”
Several fans also condemned the behavior. Comments on the TikTok videos from the Birmingham show read things like “pls pls pls don’t throw stuff! It’s disturbing, inappropriate and immature. Grow up people,” and “Pls do not throw things at entertainers! Pls treat artists and entertainers with love and respect.”
According to another user, a similar incident occurred at Moroney’s September 5 show in Manchester, UK.
“Someone did this in Manchester too but it didn’t reach the stage… it’s infuriating,” the TikTok user wrote. “She’s there to sing not try on your hat or whatever.”
Unfortunately, throwing objects at artists has become a more frequent occurrence. Last fall, Kelsea Ballerini was hit in the eye by a beaded bracelet. She stopped singing and her crew checked on her face before the performance continued after she addressed the situation.
“Can we talk about what just happened? All I care about is keeping everyone safe, so if you ever don’t feel safe, please let someone around you know,” Ballerini shared. “There’s security everywhere tonight. If anyone’s pushing too much or you just have that gut feeling or anything, just always flag it. Don’t throw things, you know! I just always want shows of mine — every show, for every artist — but I’m in control of this one. I just want it to be a safe place for everyone. … Can you help me do that tonight?”
That same year, Morgan Wallen was signing autographs for fans when someone chucked a boot at him. The boot hit him in the chest and within moments, he picked it up and tossed it back in the direction it came from.
Earlier this year, Wallen was hit by a flying cell phone while performing in Colorado. He appeared to be annoyed (rightfully so) and threw the phone off stage.
Now, more than ever, concertgoers need to be reminded to respect performers and ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Moroney’s Georgia Girl Tour continues on September 12 in Cambridge, UK, and runs through September 27 when she’s set to wrap up the run of overseas shows in Zurich, Switzerland.
This run comes just as she surprised fans with the announcement of her 2025 AM I OKAY? Tour, kicking off next March in Montreal, QC. This trek will include some of her biggest shows yet.
Megan Moroney recently scored three nominations for the upcoming 58th Annual CMA Awards, securing nods for Female Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, and Music Video of the Year for “I’m Not Pretty.”
These well-deserved nominations follow a wildly successful year for Moroney, who spent the summer touring stadiums with Kenny Chesney. She also released her sophomore album, AM I OKAY?, this summer.
The critically acclaimed 14-song collection doubles down on Moroney’s “emo cowgirl” sound and debuted at No. 9 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart upon its release. Her current single at country radio is the fan-favorite title track, “Am I Okay?.”
