Lauren Alaina recently kicked off her first night on the North American leg of Pentatonix’s World Tour, but before taking the stage she received a surprise visit from a very special person.
In a new video shared to social media, the songstress can be seen walking off her tour bus only to be greeted by her future father-in-law, Bo Arnold. A look of pure shock was spread across Alaina’s face as he stood in the doorway and kindly said, “Hey Lauren, how you doin’?”
Speechless, she looked around to see if anyone was behind him before he laughed and said, “it’s just me.” Alaina’s eyes filled with tears of joy as she leaned in to embrace him in a warm hug.
The heartfelt moment between Alaina and her future family member was paired with a caption that read, “I hadn’t seen him in so long.. So he drove 4 hours to watch me sing for 40 mins 🥹”
The country star announced her engagement to Cameron Arnold last fall during an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry. As she stood in the coveted circle, Alaina introduced her longtime love as her “fiancé” and summoned him to join her on stage.
She then proudly looked out into the crowd and said, “Everybody, this is my fiancé. I told him he had to come out here and we had to get a picture, so, we’re doing it because this is the circle and I’m going to hold my hand up and do the thing. Make some noise for my future husband everybody!”
After gushing a bit more about her future husband, she went on to say that the proposal took place on November 18 and later recalled seeing the ring for the first time.
“I talk a lot as y’all have seen and I did not speak for about 45 seconds when I looked at this ring and realized what was happening. I did not see it coming. It was perfect in every way and I can’t wait to spend forever with him, so I wanted to share [it with you]. Nobody knows I haven’t told anybody, so I told you first,” she shared, prompting an eruption of applause from the audience.
Alaina and Cameron have reportedly been dating for over two years, although most of their relationship has been kept out of the spotlight. While the couple has yet to share many details regarding their upcoming nuptials, Alaina previously told PEOPLE that they are in “full planning mode.” So far, she revealed they have selected a venue, a date (which has yet to be revealed) and Alaina has even said “yes to the dress.”
“Those are the things I’ve done, which all feel pretty big,” she says. “But I got a wedding planner so that I would know what a wedding is. Bruce Pittman. He’s wonderful, I thank God for him because I don’t have to worry. I’ll have to be the woman in the white dress, that’s about all I know!”
Lauren Alaina’s first performance in support of Pentatonix’s World Tour took place on August 9 at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. The trek continues through September 16, where it wraps up in Puyallup, WA at Washington State Fair Events Center.
“I can’t be VOCAL enough about how excited I am for this tour!” Alaina previously shared.
This stint of shows comes hot on the heels of the American Idol alum’s latest release, “Just Wanna Know That You Love Me.” Produced by Joey Moi and Co-written by Brandy Clark, Joybeth Taylor and Sam Ellis,” the fresh tune finds Alaina gushing over her partner while admitting that having luxury things will never equate to the amount of joy she gets from having the love of her other half.
“I don’t need that house custom built, painted white / With a wrap-around porch and a swing / I don’t need the riches that money can buy / I just wanna know that you love me / I just wanna know that you love me,” Alaina sings on the chorus.
Alaina recently delivered the television debut of her new song on an episode of ABC’s The Bachelorette that aired on Monday, July 3. She was tapped to perform during a special one-on-one date between the newest Bachelorette, Charity Lawson, and one of her suitors.
“Just Wanna Know That You Love Me” follows the release of Lauren Alaina’s latest EP, Unlocked, which arrived on June 9 as her first release since signing to Big Loud Records.
“I’ve got a label that matches my personality — big, loud, and country,” Alaina told Billboard of her label switch. “I just really believe in the music that comes out of that building. I think that they are producing the best music in Nashville.”
The project features six tracks, including “A Walk In The Bar,” “Hangovers,” “Don’t Judge A Woman,” “Smaller The Town,” “Like Her” as well as “Thicc As Thieves,” a collaboration that features Lainey Wilson. As a whole, each of these tracks serve as a reintroduction to the world as she unlocks a whole new level of herself both personally and professionally, while going deeper than she’s ever done before.
“It’s been 13 years since we first met, and until a couple of years ago, I don’t know that I ever slowed down for more than a day or two at a time,” Alaina previously reflected in a press release. “I spent more time with the people that matter most to me – my family, my fiancé, my friends – during that period than I had in years. This music comes from my heart and my hometown. I am who I am because of where and who I come from, and I’m more me today than I’ve ever been. I can’t wait to unlock this next chapter with you.”
Lauren Alaina is next scheduled to perform her recent releases on August 10 in Tampa, FL.
