Miranda Lambert made her way to the Big Apple on Wednesday for an appearance on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The ACM Entertainer of the Year showcased her feisty side with a lively performance of “Actin’ Up” from her brand new, 15-track album, Palomino.
Accompanied by her band, as well as her background vocalist/friend, Gwen Sebastian, Lambert took the stage sporting a black, Western-inspired ensemble adorned with rhinestone, purple fringe, and colorful patches of stars, horses, and clouds.
“I want a sunset ride, a velvet rodeo/ A Colorado high, a California glow/ I want to see the desert from a painted palomino/ Senorita need to have a little fun/ I’m actin’ up,” she sang as she danced along to the beat.
“Actin’ Up” is the opening track on Palomino and was co-written by Lambert and frequent collaborators Luke Dick and Jon Randall.
“The making of this record has been one of the most fun and creative experiences of my career,” Lambert previously shared in a statement. “Luke Dick, Natalie Hemby, and I went out to my farm in Tennessee in 2020 and started writing songs. We figured while we have time, let’s get out to the country and see what happens. The first one we wrote was ’Tourist,’ and that set us on a path to create something with a bit of a theme. Since we couldn’t travel at the time, we decided to go on a journey through songs. I hope y’all are ready to travel with us wandering spirits and meet some cool characters with great stories.”
While in New York. Lambert also attended the TIME100 Gala as she was recently named one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
Lambert and fellow honoree Mary J. Blige will perform on ABC’s broadcast of the TIME100 Gala, airing Sunday, June 12 at 8pm ET.
Additionally, it was recently revealed that Miranda Lambert will receive the ACM Triple Crown Award at the upcoming ACM Honors ceremony. Lambert qualified for the Triple Crown Award after winning ACM Top New Female Vocalist, ACM Female Vocalist of the Year, and ACM Entertainer of the Year throughout her career. It’s an honor only seven other artists have been awarded.
The Texas native will wrap her time on The Bandwagon Tour with Little Big Town this week. Throughout the summer, she’s set to appear at several major country music festivals, and this fall, Lambert will launch her much-anticipated Las Vegas residency, Velvet Rodeo.
Launching on September 23, 2022, the residency will take place at the 7,000-seat Zappos Theater inside Planet Holywood Resort & Casino, the centerpiece of the famed Las Vegas Strip.
