Taryn Papa, Worth the Wait
Team Blake standouts Worth the Wait and Taryn Papa went head to head on The Voice on Monday evening (Nov. 9) during the first Battle Round on the hit show.
Coach Blake Shelton recruited fellow country superstar Kane Brown to join him as a Battle Advisor and both contestants were thrilled for the chance to work with him.
“Literally, besides me, you’re the hottest thing in country music,” Shelton joked with Brown.
“My dream was always to try out for The Voice,” Brown revealed, sharing that before making it big, he one day hoped to audition with Shelton’s hit “Ole Red.”
The superstars went on to offer Worth the Wait and Taryn Papa a few tips for their performance after Shelton revealed that they would be singing “Little White Church” by country supergroup Little Big Town.
“This is a song that lends itself to tons of harmonies,” Shelton said of “Little White Church.”
Brown praised Worth the Wait’s harmonies and shared how he was happy to see the girl power between the trio and Papa as it was something he believed was missing on country radio.
Worth the Wait and Papa impressed the coaches with the Battle round performance, however, Shelton was only able to choose one winner.

After their Battle, Gwen Stefani called Papa “the real deal” and said she was rooting for Worth the Wait because she was anxious to see what would happen next.
Kelly Clarkson complimented Papa’s range and tone and said she would choose Worth the Wait based on their performance.
It all came down to Shelton, who ultimately selected Worth the Wait as the winner of the first battle.
The trio was brought to tears over the news.
Taryn Papa was then available to save or steal and Shelton decided to save her. She will continue on as a member of Team Blake.
“I have tons of confidence in Taryn going into that four-way knockout,” Shelton explained.
