Colin Stough showed off his “most meaningful” tattoo during a recent Q&A session on his Instagram stories.
The rising country star took to social media to answer a few burning questions from fans, including one who asked him to show off the “most meaningful” tattoo on his body. Stough snapped a photo of his upper arm revealing the outline of Mountains inked above a set of inspirational words that read, “There is no end to the adventures we can have with our eyes open.”
He then explained that he was inspired to get this particular tattoo because it’s his mom’s “favorite” quote.
Stough has made it clear that his mom is a very important person in his life. He previously revealed that he and his mom even have matching tattoos that read “Godspeed.” His is written in a large font on his forearm, while hers is written much smaller on the inside of her wrist.
As he explained during his Idol journey, his mom was also the one who encouraged him to audition for the singing competition show.
“My mom signed me up for it. I didn’t know how far I could go on it, and I ended up about damn near going all the way. So, I was pretty pleased with the outcome. It was pretty awesome,” Stough said.
As a result of her constant support, the Mississippi native made it all the way to the end of the competition when he finished in third place behind Season 21 winner, Iam Tongi and runner-up, Megan Danielle.
Since his time on Idol has come to a close, fans have continued to press Stough on when he plans to drop new music. During the recent Q&A, he shared that he’s recording new songs “everyday” and that he’s trying hard to get the music out into the world.
“It’s coming very soon. I got y’all,” he stressed to the hungry fans.
Along with his own recordings, Stough also teased that he might be dropping a cover of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” in the near future. Stough performed a countrified version of this song upon making it into the Top 12 on Idol, and easily won over judges and viewers with his soulful delivery.
“It’s coming,” he said in response.
So far, Stough has unveiled his debut single, “I Still Talk To Jesus,” followed by the song “Bad Day.” Based on all the hope he’s been giving fans lately, there might even have a bigger project in the works.
“Maybe an EP or a small album or something like that. Can’t give all the secrets away,” he told Country Now with a laugh.
He also made note of possible plans to hit the road on a tour in the near future. When the time does come for him to embark on a full run of shows, Colin Stough intends to bring his most authentic self to the stage and “just go up there and be me.”
“I’m kind of a dying breed,” he explained. “I like the southern rock and the classic country music and just being another guy in the world that’s just trying to bring that back to life.”
For now, he has a few individual shows scheduled across the next few months, including an appearance in Pineville, KY on July 14.
On August 10, he will return to Mississippi to play his first hometown show since coming off Idol. Tickets are already sold out to his upcoming show in the town of Starkville, MS. While discussing this success, Stough said that “it means the world to me” to see so much support from his hometown.
“I never would’ve thought I’d be doing stuff like that, you know, and opening for some of the biggest names in the country music two nights after. So it definitely means the world to me. I’m blessed.”
He will then make his way to Birmingham, AL on August 11 for a show at Zydeco and Hattiesburg, MS on August 12, where he has been added to the opening lineup for Bulls, Bands and Barrels.
Additionally, Colin Stough will serve as support for Drake White’s upcoming concert in Phenix City, AL on Friday, July 28.
