Chris Lane and his wife, Lauren Bushnell Lane, recently changed their second son’s legal name.
Lauren, 33, took to Instagram stories on Friday (Oct. 6) to share the news with her followers. In the videos, she elaborated on their decision to modify the middle name of their 11-month-old son, Baker, opting to replace Weston with the simpler name West.
Legally Changed Second Son’s Name
“I just dropped off Baker’s name change form at the Vital Records Office, but I’m just having a Kylie Jenner moment, you know, changing my son’s name,” she said, referring to Jenner, who changed her son’s name from Wolf to Aire after he turned one.
She pointed out that his name is “still Baker,” but that they changed his middle name because it aligns with his personality more.
They “Couldn’t Decide” While In The Hospital
“[It] was Weston, we actually, like, panicked in the hospital because we just couldn’t decide and it was between West and Weston, and we ended up going with Weston,” she explained in a video. “But Baker is such a Baker West and that’s just what we call him. Dutton calls him Baker West, I call him Baker West [and] like his personality is so much more of a West than a Weston, so now he’s Baker West.”
For those wondering about the name-change process, Lauren clarified, “It’s super easy if you want to change your kid’s name and they’re under 1. Very easy, just had to pay $15. So new name: Baker West.”
Born On Oct. 16, 2022
Baker West was born on October 16, 2022. He made his debut early in a “very chaotic, unplanned and panicked” sequence of events, according to Lauren’s birth announcement.
“Our little man surprised us 9 days early, late Sunday night. Still laughing thinking about my water breaking (very aggressive, movie like situation) driving myself to the hospital in Chris’ truck (pantsless btw) because my car was out of gas and Dutton was sleeping 😵💫,” she wrote.
Following Baker’s birth, the couple shared a sweet video of bug brother Dutton Walker getting to meet little Baker for the first time.
Inspiration Behind His Name
A few months after Baker’s arrival, Lauren Lane explained the inspiration behind his name in an interview with US Weekly.
“I had one of those running lists like probably a lot of women out there do on my phone of baby names. Baker was on there. I don’t know. I don’t actually personally know anyone named Baker other than [football player] Baker Mayfield,” she shared.
Even though Chris Lane is a “huge Carolina Panthers fan,” Lauren says they didn’t name their son after the NFL player.
“I’m like ‘No, we were naming our kid Baker long before he decided to go to Carolina this past year.’ I got that a whole lot,” she stated.
Chris Lane and Lauren Bushnell Lane often share glimpses into their life at home with their sons on Instagram.
Career Moves
It’s an exciting time for the country singer. His home life is flourishing as is his career as he recently signed a new record deal with Jay DeMarcus’ Red Street Records.
The newly signed deal is a partnership between Red Street and Lane’s new endeavor, Voyager Records.
“I was looking for the right partner for my new music and venture Voyager Records and found it in Red Street Records,” Lane previously shared. “Not only is Red Street an artist-driven label that supports my vision for music but Jay DeMarcus has been and continues to be a great friend. I have been spending the time needed to write and record new music and can’t wait to share what I have been working on real soon.”
New Single
Since then, he released his brand new single, “Find Another Bar.” Co-written by Lane with Josh Thompson and Justin Ebach, The song narrates the tale through the viewpoint of an unlucky individual who hopes that his former partner will discover a different place to frequent so that they will stop running into each other.
“I’ve been waiting on this day for a long time and excited to have the first one of many to come this year finally out!” Lane shared via press release. “I wrote ‘Find Another Bar’ with Josh Thompson and Justin Ebach trying to find a different way to write a breakup song and I’m proud of how it turned out! I know there will be a lot of people who can relate to it.”
The song hit country radio on August 21. Fans can stay tuned to Chris Lane’s social media accounts for additional updates on new music.
