Jordan Davis brought his sixth No.1 hit “Next Thing You Know” to life on the CMA Fest stage, delivering a memorable performance of the fan-favorite hit to fans inside Nissan Stadium.

Donning a mustard-yellow button-up and paired with a white tee and jeans, the Louisiana native reminded fans to savor every moment in life through the heartfelt lyrics of the tune.

“Next thing you know/ You’re savin’ money like never before/ Just to spend it all at a jewelry store/ Gettin’ down on one knee on her mama’s porch/ Just prayin’ she don’t say, “No” Next thing you know/ Your best man gives a half-drunk speech/ And you’re sunburned on a honeymoon beach/ And your left hand’s gettin’ used to that ring/ And there the next two or three years go/ Next thing you know,” he sang while strumming his acoustic guitar.

“Next Thing You Know” was written by Davis with Josh Osborne, Greylan James, and CHase McGill. It’s featured on his latest album, Bluebird Days, which also includes hits such as “Buy Dirt,” “What My World Spins Around” and “Tucson Too Late.”

This marked Davis’ second year performing on the CMA Fest main stage and he admits he was feeling a bit less nervous before taking the stage this time around.

“Last year was the first time I ever played the stadium and I’m definitely a lot calmer right now than I was last year. I remember doing interviews and stuff before and trying to keep it together, but I was pretty shaky,” he said. “This time it’s just excitement and definitely it’s an honor to get to play it and especially at this stage, I remember many years hoping to make the jump across the river and play it so I don’t take it for granted.”

Jordan Davis’ CMA Fest performance took place amid a busy season for the award-winning singer/songwriter. He’s currently headlining his Damn Good Time World Tour and also appearing on select dates of Luke Combs’ Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old Tour.

On the topic of performing in Music City for CMA Fest, Davis shared, “I mean, for me, there’s an energy in Nashville. I think these songs were created here. These songs were written in Nashville, they were recorded in Nashville. So to have the fans here in the town that these songs were born, there’s an energy to it that’s kind of hard to describe, but there’s no lineup like this in any other festival in the world. So it is just special to feel that and to be here and be able to sleep in my own bed. It’s pretty awesome too. But no, this is the birthplace of country music. So to be celebrating country music the way CMA does right here in Nashville is awesome.”
