Kenny Chesney’s concert scheduled for Wednesday evening (July 24) at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix, Arizona came to an abrupt halt due to severe weather. According to a statement released by the country superstar, the show has now been rescheduled for tonight – Thursday, July 25.
AZCentral.com reports that fans entered the outdoor venue on Wednesday evening and were able to witness a performance by opener Megan Moroney. Following the rising star’s set, a voice came over the PA system and announced to fans that severe weather was rapidly approaching. At this time, ticketholders were asked to take shelter via messages displayed on screens on each side of the stage.
Fans Took Shelter For Nearly Two Hours
Around 8:30 pm a message reading: “Please seek shelter in your vehicle until further notice” was released. Fans who took shelter under the amphitheater shelter were able to remain there.

Approximately 45 minutes later, the sound system alerted fans, “ “We’re hoping to get an update to you in the next 30 minutes or so.” They reportedly continued to shelter in place until around 10:20 pm when the venue finally announced that the show would not continue.
At this time, Live Nation, the promoter of the show, issued a statement to fans.
“Due to the continued lightning in the area and forecasts for the remainder of the evening, unfortunately, we will not be able to proceed with the show tonight,” the statement read. “Please safely proceed to the exits. We will provide updated show information as soon as it is available.”
Statement From Kenny Chesney
Chesney acknowledged the situation on social media early Thursday.
“Last night’s show in Phoenix, AZ has been rescheduled to tonight, July 25. Doors will open at 5pm MST and the show will begin at 7pm MST,” he shared. “All tickets for last night’s show will be honored tonight. If you’re not able to attend tonight’s rescheduled show, refunds will be available until show time tonight at the original point of purchase.”

The Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour recently made a stop at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles where Kenny Chesney made history as the only country act – and second act overall to the Rolling Stones – to bring two tours through the Inglewood, Calif.-based venue.
“You can tell when you hit the stage when an audience is ready to bring everything they’ve got,” the eight-time Entertainer of the Year shared following the show. “No Shoes Nation more than showed up at SoFi; they sang hard, were on their feet from the beginning and really leaning into songs that set a positive vibe for living life in the moment.”
Chesney’s new single, “Just To Say We Did,” from his latest album, BORN, is at country radio now.
