The Sun- The Masked Singer
Season four of The Masked Singer wrapped on Wednesday night (Dec. 16) and LeAnn Rimes was revealed as the singer behind the sun costume and the overall champion of the season.
Rimes made it to the finale after singing “When the Party’s Over” by Billie Eilish during the semi-finals and closed out her run on the show with a cover of “The Story” by Brandi Carlile.
Only two of The Masked Singer judges, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg and Nicole Scherzinger, were able to guess that Rimes was behind the Sun. Ken Jeong thought Mandy Moore was behind the mask, while Robin Thicke believed it was Katharine McPhee.
Previous guesses included Demi Lovato, Madonna, Carrie Underwood, Jewel and Kate Hudson.
“I never thought I would do anything like this and I don’t think I’ll ever do anything like it again,” Rimes told Variety. “It’s such a unique show. I had no idea what I was getting myself into and I’m so glad I did.”
Rimes went on to share how she found comfort in being on the show amid the COVID-19 pandemic as it allowed her the chance to perform.
“I haven’t been off the road and not performed live since I was 13,” she said. “I was really craving to be on stage. And then, when I thought of what I could bring to this dark moment in time, it felt like perfect timing. This show in itself is just so joyous, unlike really any show on television.”

Some fans were quick to guess that Rimes was behind the sun costume earlier in the season as all clues pointed to the Grammy-winning country star.
Just before her unmasking, Rimes released a new song, “Throw My Arms Around the World.” Rimes says the song is “full of passion, hope and sacred rage” and that she wants to “dance and cry every time I listen to it.”
Rimes wasn’t the only country singer to appear on this season of The Masked Singer: Clint Black and his wife Lisa Hartman Black were revealed as the mystery singers behind the snow owls.
