Kenny Chesney’s much-anticipated new single, “Tip Of My Tongue” is finally out and it does not disappoint.

Co-written by Chesney alongside Ross Copperman and pop singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran, and co-produced by Chesney with longtime collaborator Buddy Cannon, “Tip of My Tongue” is filled with desire. The steamy track finds Chesney professing his love for his lady and its descriptive lyrics paint a picture in listeners’ minds.

“I love the dimples in the small of your back/ The way they’re speaking to me just like that/ Red wine made my imagination run/ Oh I can taste it on the tip of my tongue,” he sings in the first verse.

Sonically, the song is a bit of a departure from Chesney’s previous work, however, he found a way to push boundaries without stepping too far outside of his comfort zone. Vocally, “Tip of My Tongue” features some of Chesney’s best work to date.

“It’s funny how a figure of speech can lead you to all kinds of places,” the eight-time Entertainer of the Year previously shared in a press release. “You start talking, and words fall out, and anything can happen. When you go in and write on any given day, the chemistry is what it is. When the idea fell out, we all just laughed and went, ‘Well, what can we do with that?’

“I’ve written so much with Ross (Copperman), that’s always easy. He brought Ed (Sheeran) in, and he is such a great writer… The way creativity works in creative people is so different, but it’s always exciting. As a co-write with a new writer, it’s one of the most fun sessions I’ve done in a long time. I get why people love working with him.”

“Tip of My Tongue” is the lead single from Chesney’s yet-to-be-announced album, which serves as the follow-up to 2018’s Songs for the Saints.
