Newly crowned ACM Male Artist of the Year Luke Combs is also a newlywed. The singer/songwriter and his longtime love Nicole Hocking tied the knot in early August after changing their wedding plans a few times due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at their home in Florida and in a recent interview, Combs revealed a few more details about their special day, including their first dance song. The superstar admitted that a lot of thought went into selecting the song for their first dance and that they ended up choosing one of his biggest hits: “Beautiful Crazy.”
“We wrestled with the idea of, ‘Is that corny and is it weird?’” he shared with Taste of Country Nights. “It ended up being like, ‘You know what? This is the thing. We need to do this thing.’”
Hocking was the inspiration behind the “Beautiful Crazy,” which topped the Billboard Country Airplay chart for a whopping six weeks, so it sounds like it was a perfect fit for the couple.
Choosing a first dance song was the least of the couple’s worries, however, as Combs revealed that the wedding planning was not easy due to the COVID-19 restrictions, but in the end, everything worked out perfectly.
“We made it happen. It was really great,” he gushed. “It was really perfect and I wouldn’t have changed it for anything, to be honest with you.”
Combs and Hocking began dating in 2016 after meeting at the 2016 Key West Songwriter’s Festival. After the festival, the Hocking and Combs started spending more time together and eventually began dating. In 2018, Combs planned an elaborate proposal that ended up going south after a hectic day of moving. Weeks later, Combs and Hocking revealed their engagement with fans via Instagram.
