Earlier this month, Luke Combs received the exciting news of his induction into the Music City Walk of Fame. However, due to unforeseen schedule changes from his performance at the benefit show “Concert for Carolina” on Saturday, October 26, he was unable to attend today’s Walk of Fame ceremony.
The two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year was set to be celebrated among this year’s induction class members, including the late legendary “tropical troubadour” Jimmy Buffett; iconic gospel quartet The Fairfield Four; hospitality leader of Ryman Hospitality Properties, Colin Reed, and Grand Ole Opry announcer and WSM host Bill Cody. According to the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp, these beloved figures earned the 105th, 106th, 107th and 108th stars on the Music City Walk of Fame on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 1 p.m.

Prior to the event, Combs released a statement announcing that he would not be able to make the celebration. However, he then revealed that his induction will be taking place at a later date that has yet to be announced.
“My apologies everyone, with our stadium event for hurricane relief happening in Charlotte this weekend my schedule has changed. I won’t be attending the Walk of Fame ceremony later this month. Stay tuned for a later date,” Combs shared before commending his fellow inductees on receiving the much-deserved honor.
“I want to send a huge congratulations to the other inductees, the late Jimmy Buffett and his family, The Fairfield Four, my friend Bill Cody and my partner Colin Reed, on their well-deserved recognition.”
Combs was informed of his induction on Saturday, October 12, while performing on stage at the inaugural Luke Combs Bootleggers Bonfire, a three-day music and beach festival in Miramar Beach, FL. In the midst of his set, Combs longtime manager, Chris Kappy, appeared on stage and invited him and fans to watch the video on the screen behind him. The footage showcased images from past ceremony’s and read “Congratulations Luke on your upcoming induction into the Music City Walk of Fame.”
“I would have never expected anything like that, I’m not even certain that I deserve something like that,” he said humbly. “I wouldn’t have it without you guys, I wouldn’t have it without my family in my team and everybody that works so hard and dedicates parts of their lives to make my awesome. So I just want to thank my whole team, my wife, my kids, Kappy, everybody that’s here. You know who you are. But thank you guys man, so much,” he added.

“Luke’s stellar career, marked by chart-topping hits and a deep connection to his fans, has made him one of country music’s brightest stars and the perfect addition to this prestigious group of honorees,” said Deana Ivey, President and CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. “It was a special moment for Luke to hear about his induction into the Music City Walk of Fame alongside hundreds of his dedicated fans, and we hope many of them will travel to Nashville to celebrate with him in person at the ceremony.”
Each of the inductees are chosen for this honor as a result of their significant work of preserving the musical heritage of Nashville and for contributing to the world through song.
Members of the public were invited to view today’s ceremony. Former Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam inducted Reed. Country music singer-songwriter and GRAMMY Award-winner Larry Gatlin, known for his harmonies with the Gatlin Brothers, inducted Cody. Singer-songwriter and Music City Walk of Fame member Mac McAnally, who was a longtime member of Buffett’s Coral Reefer band, was on-site to post-humorously induct Buffett and Shannon Sanders, Executive Director, Creative, at BMI Nashville and an award-winning songwriter and producer, inducted The Fairfield Four.
Established in 2006 along Nashville’s Music Mile, the Music City Walk of Fame features permanent sidewalk medallions with names of each inductee in the shape of a star. This nearly one-mile stretch links downtown Nashville with the iconic Music Row.
