Maren Morris’ latest hit, “The Bones,” claims the No.1 spot at country radio this week, marking the superstar’s fourth chart-topping single.

“The Bones” is the first song by a solo female artist to top the Billboard country charts since last summer when her critically-acclaimed track “GIRL” reached the No.1 spot. Prior to that, a solo female artist had not claimed the top spot on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart since February 2018 when Kelsea Ballerini’s “Legends” reached No.1.

Additionally, Morris becomes the first solo female artist to notch back-to-back No.1 singles since 2016.

Morris took to Twitter to react to the good news earlier this week, writing, “The bones are good. Thank you so much for my third number 1 song. And I will be having the party for it after I have this baby so I can drink all the margaritas.”

The Texas native co-wrote “The Bones” with frequent collaborators Jimmy Robbins and Laura Veltz.

“Laura brought the title ‘The Bones’ and she’s always so good at bringing stuff like that to the table.,” Morris previously recalled of the day they wrote the song. “And, it’s always like a weird title and that’s why she and I get along so well is I’m willing to get weird. And-but she also knows how to make it so sentimental and real life.”

Morris also released a version of “The Bones” with Irish-born musician, singer and songwriter Hozier.

2020 is shaping up to be quite the year for Morris. In just a few short weeks, she will welcome her first child, a baby boy, with husband Ryan Hurd. Prior to his arrival, Morris is scheduled to perform at the Houston Rodeo on March 7.

“It’s a couple weeks before my due date,” Morris recently said (quote via Nash Country Daily). “I’m nervous, but I’ve talked to my doctor about it, and I’m going to fly in and out the same day, and just keep it super chill. My set is at like 6 p.m., and it’s not too long of a flight, so I could be back in Nashville by 9:00, hopefully. It’s a pretty crazy concept.”

“The Bones” is the second single from Maren Morris’ 2019 album, GIRL.
