Morgan Wallen and ERNEST have the No.1 song in country music this week with their fan-favorite collab, “Cowgirls,” and they’ve made history along the way.

According to U.S. Radio Updater, “Cowgirls” claims the top spot on both the Billboard Country Airplay Chart and the Mediabase Country Airplay chart this week.

This marks ERNEST’s first-ever chart-topping single as an artist and Wallen’s 14th career No.1 on the Billboard chart and 15th overall No.1 on the Mediabase chart.

ERNEST took a moment to reflect on the milestone moment on Instagram.

“Lucky. 11th number 1 as a writer and 1st number 1 as an artist. I wouldn’t have a hand full of em if it weren’t for @morganwallen cutting em or having me on to sing this one with it him too,” he shared. “Thanks country music radio and the radio team for always grinding 🦅 long live em’.”

“Cowgirls,” which appears on Wallen’s latest album, the record-breaking One Thing At A Time, was co-written by ERNEST, Charlie Handsome, Rocky Block, James Maddox and Ashley Gorley.

The longtime collaborators and friends broke a record amid their climb to the top of the Mediabase chart as the song now has the “most single-week spins on US Country Radio (Mediabase) with 9,965 spins,” according to U.S. Radio Updater. “Cowgirls” surpasses Nate Smith’s “World On Fire” which previously raked in 9,753 spins in one week.

On the Billboard chart, Wallen now joins Tim McGraw, becoming the only two artists in history to replace themselves at the No.1. “Cowgirls” replaces “I Had Some Help,” Wallen’s duet with Post Malone, while McGraw replaced himself at the top of the chart with “Bring On The Rain” and “The Cowboy In Me” in 2002.

Wallen’s new single is the buzzed-about “Lies Lies Lies.” The studio version of the track was released earlier this month after a studio version was released to YouTube only earlier this year. Due to fan response, Wallen recorded the song and released it following his record-breaking concert in London, which took place on July 4.

Recently, the superstar released a lyric video for “Lies Lies Lies,” blending studio footage with clips from his U.K. concert and scenes from his time on the road for his One Night At A Time World Tour.

The tour came to a halt on July 12 when Wallen became ill and was forced to postpone three concerts, including a show in Tampa, Florida and two concerts in Charlotte, North Carolina. These concerts will now take place in October.

According to his current tour schedule, Wallen’s next shows will take place on July 25 and July 26 where is he slated to perform back-to-back nights at the home of the Dallas Cowboys: AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Later this fall, the singer/songwriter will return home for two shows at Knoxville, Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium. These shows will take place on Friday, September 20, and Sunday, September 22. The upcoming shows will mark a bucket list moment for the 31-year-old.

“I’ve had the honor of playing in a lot of college, MLB and NFL stadiums the past two years, but getting to play to my hometown at Neyland Stadium, nothing tops this for a boy from East Tennessee,” Wallen previously shared in a statement.

In addition to the Knoxville shows, the remainder of Wallen’s 2024 touring schedule includes a run of shows overseas with stops in Stockholm, Sweden, Oslo, Norway, Copenhagen, Denmark, and more.
