American Idol alum Colin Stough is engaged!
According to social media posts, the rising country star proposed to his girlfriend, former Miss Jr. Teen Mississippi Mckenzie Rhett, on Friday, June 14.
It’s unclear how long the couple has been dating, however, they are engaged to be married following the outdoor proposal, which appears to have taken place in Stough’s home state of Mississippi.
Madison Wright Photography beautifully captured the unforgettable moment in a series of stunning photos, which were then shared on social media by Stough.
“Only God knew that a pretty little angel would end up with a tatted up cowpoke. I love you and this life with you and I can’t wait for the miles and the memories we will have to my best friend and my life partner,” he captioned the post. “Let’s get married.”
He also included hashtags like “rock,” “engaged,” and “cowpoke.”
Stough’s soon-to-be-wife also revealed the news on Instagram, writing, “I love you Colin Stough! My best friend and lover for life let’s get married.”
There’s no word on when Colin and Mckenzie will tie the knot, however, they are already on the hunt for wedding planners in North Mississippi to assist in organizing plans for their big day.
This special life moment comes ahead of the release of Stough’s new EP, Lookin’ For Home. Arriving on July 12, the project is set to feature six tracks, each co-written by Stough.
“Each one of these songs is a piece of my heart, and they outline trials and tribulations that I’ve been through personally. They’ve made me into who I am today,” the rising singer/songwriter shared in a statement. “The EP title Lookin’ For Home comes from that feeling that something is missing – that no matter where you are, who you’re with, or what you’re doing, you feel like you don’t belong, and there’s something just over the horizon that would make it better.”

He gave fans a first taste of the project with the release of the radio-ready breakup track, “Makes Two Of Us” in mid-April.
Most recently, the Mississippi native revealed the official music video for the song “Sober,” which he wrote with Mason Thornley and Sam Martinez. Under the direction of David Dutton and cinematography by Alan Fisher, Stough embarks on a solitary journey on his actual Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail motorcycle in the video, haunted by poignant recollections of a past romance gone wrong.
“This video shows the push and pull of memories after a breakup. Thinking back to the good times, trying to forget the bad as it’s happening, and looking for solace in all the wrong places,” Stough explained.
