The inaugural Giddy Up Music Festival, which was set to take place in Las Vegas from October 18 through October 20, has been canceled.
The highly anticipated event was announced in June with Megan Moroney, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Turnpike Troubadours named as headliners. Other performers on the all-star line-up included Chase Rice, Elle King, Charles Wesley Godwin, and Kameron Marlowe, and many more.
On Friday (Aug, 30), Organizers LNE Presents, a Salt Lake City-based entertainment company, took to social media to let ticket holders know that the three-day festival would no longer take place at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.
“To our Giddy Up crew, there’s nothing we would love more than to ride through the festival gates with you this October, but unfortunately we can no longer move forward with Giddy Up Las Vegas Music Festival 2024,” the post began.
The organizers expressed their most sincere apologies but offered no specific reason for the cancellation.
“We understand that many of you who have purchased tickets looked at Giddy Up as the must-attend event of the season, and we are truly sorry. It is not possible to overstate just how seriously we, as producers and promoters, take the decision to cancel this year’s festival.”
The post also promises that all those who purchased tickets directly through Giddy Up and its official partners will receive a refund to their original form of payment within 7-10 business days.
“Our team will be in touch directly with more details. We appreciate your understanding, if you have any further questions please direct them to the team@giddyupfest.com. Thank you for supporting live music, Giddy Up,” the statement concluded.
All previous information and announcements regarding the event has since been deleted from the organization’s Instagram account as well as the official website.
The Giddy Up Music Festival was set to mark a significant moment for Sin City as it would have been the first country music festival to take place in Las Vegas since the devastating Route 91 Harvest tragedy of 2017.
This event brought incredible devastation to both the city and the 22,000 attendees of the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival. On October 1, 2017, a gunman opened fire from a hotel room overlooking the festival grounds, resulting in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history with 61 deaths, over 400 people injured by gunfire and hundreds more who were wounded while fleeing the scene. Members of the country music community who were involved in the incident have continued to remember all the lives taken that weekend.
Giddy Up joins the growing list of country music festivals that have been called off in recent months. Other canceled events include the country music festival Kickoff Jam, set to feature headliners Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, and Alabama, and Louisiana’s 2024 Sugar Bowl Country Kickoff with acts such as Eric Church, Jon Pardi, Ashley McBryde, and Thomas Rhett. Both of these events were set to take place over Labor Day weekend.
