Miranda Lambert attended her first-ever MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday evening, and had her husband, Brendan, by her side to experience all of the excitement with her. While walking the red carpet, Lambert opened up about their marriage and revealed how they maintain a successful romance amid her busy schedule.
“We kind of live on a date, honestly,” the three-time GRAMMY winner told E! News. “We really spend a lot of time together. We’re like best friends, so even when there’s time apart, we really find a way to connect and always have date nights, which could just be watching a movie on the couch, but really spend time together.”
She said they make a point to visit warmer climates around their January 26th anniversary and that lately, they’ve found themselves spending quite a bit of time in the Copper State.
“We’ve been going to Arizona a lot lately, Scottsdale,” she revealed. “I ride, I do mounted shooting and ride horses out there, so probably January, somewhere in the sunshine.”

Lambert’s VMAs appearance to hand out the award for Song of the Year comes amid an exciting week for the superstar as she is gearing up to release her new album, Postcards From Texas, on September 13th.
“I’m in my Back to the Roots era,” she explained. “I feel like this record I made in Texas and it’s really honky tonk. It’s like a hundred percent me.”

This project marks Lambert’s first release via her new label home with Republic Records. The 14-track record includes the chart-climbing “Wrangers,” as well as previously released tracks “No Man’s Land,” “Alimondy” and “Dammit Randy,” which her husband, Brendan, had a hand in co-writing.
“Songwriting on his resume now,” she shared with a smile.
When asked if he inspired her on this new album, Lambert couldn’t help but smile as she shared, “He’s inspired me because I mean he just, Brendan’s like the best. He’s down for anything. Super happy and supportive in the best way. Let’s me do my thing. But right there beside me and it’s really awesome.”

To celebrate the album’s release, Miranda Lambert will visit NBC’s “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” during the 10 a.m. hour, where she will discuss her return-to-her-roots album with fellow Texan Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb.
In a statement, Lambert shared, “I have not made a record in Texas since I was 18, my little independent album, so this is full circle – coming back home to the root, to kind of start fresh with a new label and sound and some new band members I haven’t played with.”

She later added, “Being back home and really remembering why I love country music, it’s already leaning way more country which I love.”
On September 26, the Texas native will be recognized with the Country Icon Award at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards. During the two-hour show, hosted by Shania Twain, she will be celebrated for her over two-decade-long career, during which she has achieved seven No. 1 solo albums, 10 chart-topping radio singles, over 80 prestigious awards, and numerous sales certifications.
It was also recently announced that Lambert will be performing during the broadcast alongside Parker McCollum, Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, Keith Urban, Lady A, and The War and Treaty.
