Rising country star Vincent Mason continues to capture fans’ attention with each new release, and on Friday, he shared another glimpse into his growing catalog with the debut of “Train of Thought.”
The Interscope/UMG Nashville/Music Soup songwriter and artist co-wrote the song with Jared Keim, Ryan Beaver, and Chase McDaniel. The tune portrays a relatable storyline about reflecting on a past relationship and the memories that continue to linger. In the song, Mason reflects on what went right and wrong in the relationship, particularly when he’s in places that bring back memories, like the bar where they used to sing karaoke.

Despite his feelings, Mason doesn’t want to put any pressure on his ex to rekindle the relationship as he makes it clear that he won’t chase or call her. Instead, he promises, “If you’re gone for good, I’ll stay good and gone.” But, he hopes that if she starts to miss him, she’ll “hop back on that train of thought” and think about giving their relationship another chance.
Despite the song’s reflective narrative, the lyrics are paired with an upbeat melody, showcasing a sound that’s a bit different than the Georgia native’s previous releases.
“I got to write with some of my favorite writers in town and walked out with this song,” Mason shared. “It feels like a new side to my sound while still fitting into what we’ve already built and I can’t wait for the fans to hear it.”
The release of “Train of Thought” follows Vincent Mason’s breakout hit, “Hell is a Dance Floor,” which has raked in over 45 million streams since its release at the end of February. It was recently added to Spotify’s Hot Country playlist, fueling the song’s continued success. Mason’s previous releases also include “Heart Like This: and his debut EP, Can’t Just Be Me.
Fans can experience Mason’s music live on tour in the coming months as he recently scored an opening slot on Gavin Adcock’s fall tour. The singer/songwriter has previously toured with Ashley Cooke and opened shows for Parker McCollum, Niko Moon, and Luke Bryan. This fall, he also has an opening slot for country superstar Miranda Lambert.

On Saturday, September 7, Mason will fulfill a lifelong dream when he steps onto the Grand Ole Opry stage for the very first time. Earlier this summer, Luke Bryan surprised him, revealing, “We got good news… your Opry debut is set for September 7.”
“Pretty damn cool to find out you’re gonna be playing at the Grand Ole Opry. It’s even cooler to find out from @lukebryan and getting to have your family there too. I’ve always thought of the @opry as the home of country music and I’m so thankful to get the chance to step in the circle,” Mason wrote following the surprise moment.
At just 23 years old, Mason is quickly making a name for himself as one of country music’s most promising new acts. His sound, a blend of his influences like Parker McCollum and John Mayer, stands out among the current batch of rising stars by combining storytelling lyrics with a modern edge. With his unique style and undeniable talent, Mason is capturing the attention of both fans and critics, proving that he’s a fresh new voice in the genre who’s here to stay.
